HUMANITY
Kerala Pregnant Elephant
Elephants are gentle giants, there are majestic creatures that roam our lovely earth. Yes, earth is lovely, however it is the actions of some humans that’s aren’t so. Elephants have a positive symbolic meaning all across the globe and considered a symbol of good luck, power and wisdom. Elephants are highly social animals in the animal kingdom and love to communicate with one another.
However, elephants are classified as endangered species by the WWF (World Wildlife Fund) and the number of elephants has depleted drastically by at least 50% over the last three generations and are still in decline today. With only 40 to 50 thousand left in the wild, it is no surprise that these gentle giants are on the verge of extinction if we do not stop illegal hunting on these majestic creatures.

Cases of elephant abuse are common in this world, especially in circuses whereby elephants are beaten, electrically shocked as well as whipped in order for them to perform repeated routines of circus performances. However, a case of elephant cruelty that stands out most, especially in recent animal cruelty happenings, is the killing of a pregnant elephant in Kerala which is located in the southwestern tip of the Indian peninsula.

It is reported that a pregnant elephant was fed a pineapple filled with firecrackers that exploded in its mouth, leaving it in severe pain and agony, as poor creature roamed around for days with her baby still inside of her, the poor elephant in agonising pain must have worried about the child she was carrying more than her own well-being. Unable to eat or drink, the poor lovely elephant summed to its painful injury and died standing in a river on May 27 close to the silent National Park located in Kerala’s Palakkad district, prompting shock as well as anger across the whole of India and all over the globe in the following days.

Pinarayi Vijayan, Kerala’s chief minister tweeted that three suspects have been identified, also that the case will be further investigated by the forest departments as well as Kerala’s state police department. He announced that “Justice will prevail”, perpetrators could face animal cruelty charges that could fine them or even put them to jail for such actions. We need to think about what will happen to the innocent babies inside those pregnant elephants, you are not killing just the mother’s life yet also along with her babies, soon or later less elephants will give birth and this will cause extinction towards the number of elephants across the whole world. The chief minister did the right thing to take actions against those who are harming innocent elephants and other animals, if us human want peace so does animals too.

Love the elephants and all the other animals as if how we love living in this planet. All living creatures on earth wants peace and harmony, we do not wish to cause any chaos or destruction towards one another. Elephants have no harm against humanity so why should we even try to get rid of them? We have no reasons to harm or kill them as they just want to live in the same world as how we see it. There is another way to secure endangered animals like elephants by sending them to a place where they can find peace and no humans can ever find or hunt them. It is best for them to stay far away from humans who are trying to kill them
